The Arab American Women’s Society of
Georgia (AAWSG) will join thousands of
people in Atlanta in Making Strides
Against Breast Cancer! Making Strides is
a non-competitive 3 mile walk designed
to raise awareness, and raise funds for
breast cancer research, services,
education and advocacy.
Breast cancer has touched or will touch
someone you know. The disease will
affect nearly 200,000 women this year
and claim more than 40,000 lives. Since
1993, 3.5 million walkers across the
U.S. have collected more than $230
million to help fight breast cancer. In
2006 alone, 450,000 walkers across the
country raised more than 40 million to
help fight breast cancer. AAWSG
participants will enjoy a day of
exercise, entertainment, and most
importantly, they will be honoring
someone who has been affected by this
disease.
Individuals of all ages are welcome to
participate. Participants are
encouraged to raise funds but are not
required to raise a certain amount. A
minimum donation of $20 is suggested.
Checks are made payable to the American
Cancer Society (ACS): Making Strides.
Cash or check donations may be turned in
to the AAWSG coordinators at
registration, and all donations will be
collected under the AAWSG team and
handed to ACS.
